AIRDRIE GOLF CLUB CATERING ARRANGEMENTS
We are delighted to announce that the club have reached agreement with Scott Manson, formerly of the very popular BLT restaurant in Airdrie, to provide catering for our members, guests and visitors. Scott has been providing catering on an occasional basis for the past couple of months, and the feedback we have received has been extremely positive.
Scott will officially take up his position on 1st November, catering for the ladies prize giving. However, he will also be serving this Saturday between 8am and 3pm as well as providing food for the kids attending our Halloween party.
Once he officially starts, Scott will also be providing prepared meals to take home for members who don’t fancy slaving over the cooker. More details will follow shortly, alongside details of winter catering hours and menus.
I am sure you will all join us in wishing Scott and his team the very best of luck and will give him your full support to ensure his business thrives for the benefit of everyone.

Dear Richard,
I wanted to take the time to thank you very much for your kind message and donation of £1000 to our
charity, HOPE for Autism. This money will help us to deliver group activities for the children and
young adults who attend HOPE.
Your kindness is what helps to sustain our charity and the supports for our community. We couldn’t
do the work of HOPE without you, and people like you.
We would like to invite you to come along for a photo opportunity to say thank you for your kind
donation, we will be in touch in due course.
Best wishes and many thanks

CAPTAINS UPDATE APRIL 2024
As we approach the start of the season, I thought it would be useful to update members on progress at
Airdrie Golf Club since I began my tenure and our new committee got to work.
Before doing that, I have to talk about the challenges we are facing due to what I believe is about to go
down as the wettest winter since records began.
No one wants to see our course closed, but unfortunately this winter has seen us forced to do that far
more often because of saturated ground conditions. It is no consolation, but had the previous
committee not made the wise decision to make the use of mats mandatory in all areas, we would have
been closed far more often. That decision has saved untold damage to our course. Jordan and his team
are tearing their hair out at not being able to present the course at its best, but tis to their huge credit
that when we have been able to play, we have putted on greens that have been absolutely exceptional
for the time of year. I can only thank you, our loyal members, for your patience during this
unprecedented rainfall and hope that Mother Nature smiles on us sometime soon.
On a more positive note, we are grateful to members for showing their support for our revitalised social
schedule. We had a fabulous Burn’s night at the beginning of March, and our ABBA night in April is a
sell out. The dance night in May only has a few tickets left and the psychic night in June is selling well
(who'd have seen that coming!) Our other June social with Holly Fairlie and a wee game of bingo has
just gone on sale, so get your tickets ordered asap. We also hope to see loads of you support Simon's
always brilliant quiz night on Friday 12th April. This is Simon's 20th year as our Club Professional, he is
a fantastic asset to AGC, so come along and show him your support and appreciation.
You will also be aware that we recently announced a change in caterers. We thank Livie's for their
contribution to our club over the last few years but are excited to welcome John and Zoe as they launch
NINETEEN on 5th April. Their menu looks delicious, and I hope that as many members and
non-members alike will come along and sample their food. We wish John, Zoe and NINETEEN every
success - please support them.
I am also absolutely delighted to say that we have seen over 50 new members join the club since the
beginning of the year - welcome every one of you to a fantastic club. T hope as many as possible will
come along to our new member evening on April 5th. Hopefully you will see that there is more to the
club than just a great golf course and you will make full use of our wonderful clubhouse, whether it’s for
a pre or post round drink, great food or to attend our functions.
Iam also pleased to say that Vice Captain Keith McIntyre and I paid a visit to the Maggie's centre at
Monkland’s Hospital last week. It is a wonderful, joyous place that offers support to those impacted by
cancer. We have agreed to work with them to raise awareness of their work and hopefully come up with
some creative ways of helping them raise much needed funds. Watch this space for more details.
So, despite the awful weather, there are lots of things to be really positive about as we embark on
another season of golf. Our club is very much heading in the right direction, and I would like to thank
all members, whether long-standing, brand new or somewhere in-between, for their support and
encouragement. Without you, we don’t have a club, so enjoy the new season, use our clubhouse and
play well.

What a day we had for our very first junior open!
We had players from Dullater, Airdrie, Hayston, Kilsyth, Crow Wood, Drumpellier and Kirkintilloch golf clubs all take part.
It was a titanic tussle that ended in a 2 player play off round the old course at St Andrew’s.
The scoring throughout was epic and everyone that played had such impressive rounds, but there could only be one winner and that was Zak Ross from Airdrie Golf Club
Zak defeated the pre tournament favourite, James Turley from Kilsyth Lennox Golf Club the play off. Third place was Michael Parks from Hayston Golf Club who was unlucky to get pipped by one shot!
Well done everyone involved. Keep your eyes peeled for our next event

A fantastic group of youngsters who have done our club proud
The team are pictured with Team Manager Ian Telford who has helped transform our junior section along with Jane Clark and Peter Russell
Thanks also to Robert Dalzell for coming along and taking the photos
This big handsome chap today celebrates 20 years as Club Professional at Airdrie Golf Club. I would say he had a full head of hair when he arrived in 2004, but everyone would know that was a lie 😀
We are very fortunate as a club that we have had a pro as loyal, hard working and just thoroughly decent as Simon for the past two decades. His enthusiasm, friendliness and good humour make him a perfect representative for our club and we are lucky to have him.
Never one to miss a trick, to coincide with his 20 year anniversary he has launched a 20% off sale in the shop today - why not go along and support your local pro 👍
Happy work anniversary Simon - here’s to many more 🥳🥂🍾⛳️
The Airdrie Golf Club Burns Supper will take place in the Main Lounge on Friday 1st March, from 7:00pm.
As detailed in the attached poster, tickets will be £15 from the bar.
All profits will go to local charities.
Come and support your club and local charities while enjoying fine fare and rousing entertainment in honour of The Bard!
Our Junior team had a day out at Topgolf to beat the weather.
In a close nearest the pin competition Thomas’s team of Kyle, Ellie, Lennon, Harrison and Ian beat Calum’s team of Jack, Brendan, Taylor, Ewan and Zac. With an aggregate score of 4464 against 4565. Lowest score wins.
Thanks to our Sponsor Paul McManus Joinery for making the event possible.
Ian Telford was arrested by the fashion police shortly after the photograph was taken 😂😂
This is your regular weekly post about yet another achievement from our brilliant junior team. This time it is huge congratulations to the team who yesterday triumphed in the regional quarter final of the Junior Team Golf Championship (Scotland) staged at Kirkhill golf club. The team now advances to the semi-final stage. Watch this space.
Our new girls and boys junior champions for 2023, well done to both Ellie McManus and Jack O'Hara.
